Jesus Christ is
Our Savior . . .
Have you reached a place in your
life where you know, for certain, that you will go to heaven when you die?? Is
that important to you?
Suppose you were standing before God
at this moment, and He asked you "Why should I let you into heaven?" What would
you say to answer Him?
Those are tough questions to answer
. . . What could we possibly say to God to convince Him that we deserve
heaven? Maybe "I lived a good life and tried to do the right things." OR, "I
went to church and even gave a lot of money to help the poor." OR, "I have
tried to be the best person that I could be." Is any of that good enough?
There are a few facts that you
should know as you ponder this important subject:
1. God loves YOU and has a
wonderful plan for YOUR LIFE. John 3:16 says that God loved the world so much
that He gave His only Son (Jesus) so that whoever would believe in Him would not
perish but have eternal life.
2. Our problem is our sin. Sin
separates us from God. Sin, by definition, is anything that is against the will
of God. Simply stated, sin is anything that we do that makes God unhappy.
Romans 3:23 reminds us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God. None of us could ever live a life that would be good enough to save us on
our own merit!
3. God provided a way for us to
have a relationship with Him, and to have a happy life now and eternal life when
we die. That way was and is Jesus. In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." Jesus is the
ONLY way to God and the ONLY way of salvation. Jesus died on a Roman cross for
our sins and resurrected from His grave three days later, dealing the ultimate
defeat to sin and to death. HE IS ALIVE and He wants a relationship with
YOU!!!!!
4. Knowing all of these facts is
not enough. In order to know the salvation that is offered through Jesus, we
have to believe in Him, ask Him to come into our lives and save us from our sin,
and we have to commit to live for Him!
So, the truth is, none of those
answers to the "question" from above are good enough. Salvation can only be
obtained through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ . . .
If you would like to pray and
receive Christ as Savior and Lord, you might want to pray a prayer like this:
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for dying on a cross and
paying the price for my sin. Please forgive me of my sin and come into my
life. I want you to be the Savior and Lord of my life, and I am going to live
for You from this point forward. Thank you for being my Savior! Amen
